Ulverstone, you can see the lmc in the centre just to the left near the
top, you can also see my 1963 ej Holden, oh and there is also some
auroral activity as well. 
oct1-14.jpg (32480 bytes)This photo was taken at 11pm.  There were pulses running through it, about four per second, you could watch them flow quickly through the beams all the way up to the zenith. This was when it was at its peak, and was moving really fast. Camera was a canon ae1 with a 28mm lens at f/2.8 exp time was 20 seconds. 
oct1-35.jpg (31770 bytes)   October 1st aurora from the Ulverstone Park at 8pm local time; I think this is 10:00am universal time. The bright object is Venus; you can also see the Southern Cross to the left, with the pointers at the top. The camera I used was a canon ae1 with a 28mm lens at f/2.8 exp time was 20 seconds on Konica 400 film.     aurbre.jpg (31637 bytes)This first photo was taken looking back towards Ulverstone; it was low tide so I walked out to as far as I could. There is cloud in the sky and also a funny streak, maybe it was left by the meteor.
 
fullmoonhouse.jpg (79219 bytes)This is a photo taken from the Ulverstone Park. The moon is rising over somebody's house. The camera I used was a canon ae-1 with a 200mm lens and a 2x teleconverter at f/9 the exposure time was 1/125 of a second.
  
galaxy.jpg (84409 bytes) This is a photo I took of our Milky Way galaxy. The sky was  dark the night I took this, and really clear too. This is an untracked photo. It looks like it was tracked because of the trees, but it wasn't. The camera  was a Pentax k 1000 with a 28mm lens at f/2.8 exp time was 30 seconds on Konica 400.   
april17-6.jpg (22063 bytes) This is a photo I took on April 17, of the aurora Australis. The camera I used was a Pentax k 1000 with a 50mm lens at f/2.8 exposure time was 40 seconds on Konica 400 film., . The photo was taken at the Ulverstone Park. 
april17-11.jpg (35858 bytes) Here is a photo I took from my front gate on April 18 it was 2:45 in the morning. It was barley visible, so I exposed for a couple of minutes. When I scanned it into the computer with the negative scanner, it put a horizontal line through it. Camera was a Pentax k 1000 with a 50mm lens at f/2.8.

this a few months ago in mid august. It was taken at the end of the Ulverstone break wall, the pole is a navigational device for boats.

There was a half moon shining brightly when I took these photos but it didn't seem to make any difference. anon ae1 with a 28mm lens at f/2.8 exp time was 30 seconds on Konica 400 film.   oct1-13.jpg (22369 bytes) At 10:55 I came out to check if the clouds had subsided, they had but there was still only a bright green arc, I went back inside and watched telly for five minutes, then came back out and it was going crazy beams were going all the way up to the zenith and there were pulses running through it and it was moving really fast.

left, the picture was taken at about 455 in the morning at the Ulverstone beach, it was low tide, when it is high tide the water comes right up past where I took the photo from. The camera I used was a canon ae-1 with a 28mm lens at f/2.8 exposure time was 20 seconds on Konica 400 film.

The red dot out the end is a navigational device for the boating community. It takes about ten minutes to walk out to the end in the dark; there are some pretty big holes and cracks opening up in it because of all the storms and bad weather.
 The camera used was a canon ae-1 with a 28mm lens at f/2.8 exposure time was 10 seconds on Konica 400 film.

twilight2 conjunction P.And.jpg (28665 bytes) Last Friday I took some more photos of the conjunction between the planets. I took them from the end of the break wall. This photo was taken in the Southern Hemisphere, so everything is going to be upside down. Jupiter is not in the picture, its just out of view to the top right. The moon lit up the clouds and you can see the lights from a ship on the horizon. The moon crosses the sky in the northern part of the sky in the southern hemisphere. lakemackenzie.jpg (32438 bytes)"Moonbow" taken at  Lake Mackenzie, east of  Ulverstone, Tasmania, on Nov 7, 2003. There was a full moon during the night I took the photo. It was a cold night and there was ice all over my tent the next morning with snow on the higher peaks.
